Mark 4:26-29, Then Jesus said, “God’s kingdom is like seed thrown on a field by a man who then goes to bed and forgets about it. The seed sprouts and grows—he has no idea how it happens. The earth does it all without his help: first a green stem of grass, then a bud, then the ripened grain. When the grain is fully formed, he reaps—harvest time!
A farmer plows his field, sows the seed, and fertilizes the ground, but he knows he is 100% dependent on nature (rain and sun) the whole time. This is something that is outside himself. He knows that he cannot make the seed to grow, or that he cannot make the rain to fall and the sun to shine for the crop to grow to produce a harvest. He is 100% dependent on these things on God. He can only try to help the seed grow better by plowing and fertilizing the ground. But the farmer knows that if he does not do his responsibilities to plow, plant, and fertilize, he cannot expect a harvest at the end of the season. We can say that the farmer is in a partnership with God. The farmer will only be rewarded after he does his responsibilities (sow, plow, fertilize). Farming is God and the farmer working together. The farmer cannot do what God must do (give sun and rain, make the seed grow) and God chooses not to do what the Farmer should do (sow the seed, plow the ground, etc.). The same is true for us working with God. There are things only God can do. Only He can change the heart of a person. Only He can save a person and make a believer grow. All this He will do. But we also have responsibilities. The responsibility is to sow the Seed and prepare the ground of the heart through prayer. We want to let you know that we take hands with you in prayer so that after we have done our responsibilities together we can celebrate when He sends the rain and the sun and cause the Seed to grow into a wonderful harvest.
